Imagine being able to take care of all the kitchen leftovers or organic material we throw in the garbage. This reduces the carbon footprint and adds enriching nutrients to your garden space.

Composting depends on a few factors such as green matter (like food scraps and grass), brown matter (like dried leaves and cardboard), air flow, and moisture balance. There are different cycles compost must go through, and temperature plays a big role in speeding things up.

So far I’ve just been doing research, but I want to start actually building compost containers. A good container can help keep the system clean, deter pests, and allow for easy turning. I’m thinking of starting with a two-bin system,  one for active composting and one that’s ready to use.
